VCU and VCU Health wish you a happy and healthy holiday
December 19, 2022Here at Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health System, the holidays are a special time for reflecting and honoring those we have served over the years. From all of us, we hope you have a happy holiday season!
Whether you celebrate 12 days of Christmas, 8 nights of Hanukkah or 7 days of Kwanzaa – December is a time filled with friends and family.
For one team member at VCU Community Memorial Hospital, Kwanzaa has an extra special meaning as she is named after the annual celebration of African American culture.
This time of year is also for traditions that may include cooking or making festive drinks (trying using our dairy-free eggnog recipe), or giving gifts.
Another favorite activity for families is taking photos with the big man in red. Members of the VCU community have a special part in making that happen at the Children’s Museum of Richmond.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Sensitive Legendary Santa offers a sensory-friendly atmosphere for children with disabilities who don’t feel comfortable going to a typical mall Santa. VCU occupational therapy students and faculty are at the heart of the event, lending their time and expertise to increase accessibility for all during the holiday season.
Looking back, 2022 marked several milestones for VCU Health, such as expanding access to our services in new areas and making the environment at our care sites more inclusive for all members of our community.
We hope in 2023 to provide more quality care to make sure your New Year is happy and healthy.
